1. Psychotherapy Services
Psychotherapy services are provided by Amanda Sunder, MSW, RSW (#815640). The purpose of psychotherapy is to address any symptoms, challenges, or life stressors you may be experiencing. It is a goal-oriented, collaborative process in which thoughts are discussed, emotions are processed, and behavioral patterns are explored. Psychotherapy is provided based on a person-centred practice, meaning that the treatment modality used is centered around what is best suited for each individual client. Positive outcomes are best achieved through active participation, consistency, and engagement in the process. Practice of skills or strategies (i.e., "homework") may be encouraged to best support your therapeutic goals. Treatment plans may be adjusted as needed throughout therapy. This service may involve referrals to outside sources or other health professionals. The therapist reserves the right to decline any requests outside the scope of psychotherapy or not within their area of expertise.
2. Initial Sessions
The first 1-2 sessions are designated for assessment and goal identification.
3. Scheduling Appointments
Appointments are scheduled between the client and therapist. Each session lasts 50 minutes, with 10 minutes allocated for administrative time. The number of sessions will vary according to need.
4. Payment & Cancellation Policy
-
The session fee is $160, payable in full at the end of each session. Payments can be made via e-transfer to asunder.innermind@gmail.com, direct billing, or credit card through the Jane App platform.
-
A credit card is required to be on file and will be charged for any remaining or overdue balances, late cancellations, or no-show charges.
-
If you have extended health benefits for Psychotherapy Services, an invoice will be provided at the end of each session. You may submit this invoice to your insurance company or request direct billing.
-
Additional fees apply for any indirect services, such as paperwork, travel time, letter writing, etc. Phone consultations and meetings beyond 15 minutes will be charged at the session rate. Requests for written reports have a minimum fee of $150. Services are not provided for determining capacity, court/legal proceedings, mediation, or parenting/custody matters.
5. Cancellation Policy
Appointments must be canceled with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a $50 charge.
6. Risks and Benefits of Therapy
Psychotherapy aims to improve mental health and overall well-being. Results may be seen in the early sessions, but there are no guarantees as each individual's experience varies. Some sessions may involve discomfort due to the nature of the therapeutic process. Recovery is not linear, and any challenging session or dip in recovery is part of the process. You may request a break at any time during a session.
7. Confidentiality
Information disclosed during sessions is confidential and will not be shared without your written consent. Inner Mind Counselling & Psychotherapy uses the Jane App, an online platform that may display demographic information to other therapists. However, your clinical record remains confidential. In emergencies, another therapist may contact you if your regular therapist is unavailable.
8. Limits to Confidentiality

Imminent risk of harm to yourself or others
-
A medical emergency during the session
-
Disclosure of suspected child abuse or neglect
-
Court-ordered disclosure of records
9. Clinical Consultation
As part of good practice, your therapist may seek consultation with other practitioners, but your personal identifying information will remain confidential.
10. Emergency Services

11. Online Therapy
Online sessions occur through an encrypted, unrecordable platform (Jane App) in compliance with privacy legislation (PHIPPA). Ensure privacy during your sessions. By using the platform, you accept the risks of electronic communication, including potential breaches of confidentiality beyond control.
12. Communication
Email, text, and telephone will be used solely for appointment scheduling, confirming, or canceling. Emails may also be used for sending resources, worksheets, or a review of information discussed in sessions. Personal information will not be discussed via email, and communication security cannot be guaranteed.
